Melinda Gordon of "Ghost Whisperer" is a Role Model when it Comes to How to Treat People

"Ghost Whisperer" is a story about supernatural and people. Melinda Gordon played by Jennifer Love Hewitt is always ready to help people, the living and the dead. It helps when you have the ability to talk to earthbound spirits. This gift she shared with her
Grandmother who had the gift also. She grew up learning that she gift comes with responsibility. She is always reaching out to help people. She, and her husband, Jim Clancy who works as a paramedic, live in the town of Grandview.

Melinda owns an antique shop named The Same As It Never Was, which at one time she had shared with her friend and business partner, Andrea Moreno. The antique store seems in some ways to be an extension to Melinda's abilities because sometimes the spirits are attached to the objects she received. She lost her friend Andrea when a plane crashed in Grandview. She helped her friend, and many of the people who died in the crash pass through the light.

Of all the fears that Melinda has, she is very uncomfortable when she tells someone what she can do and they make her feel like a freak of society. That was how she was treated in school growing up.

Delia Banks, who worked as a Realtor, now assists Melinda with her store. Her son Ned was the first one of the two to learn that Melinda could see the undead. Delia is grounded and didn't believe, when she found out. Despite the fact that she didn't believe, she felt that Melinda was a very good friend and was willing to believe for Melinda. This says a lot about the kind of person Melinda tries to be.

Melinda has fashion and decorator sense. When she struggles with a problem that she receives from signs or people who she is helping, she redecorates her house to make it more of a home.

Rick Payne, a professor who teaches about myths and the occult at Rockland University, assists her when she doesn't understand certain signs meanings. He is interested in the information and is very much a non-believer. She came to him when she needed to understand something about a vision she had, and he has been helping her ever since.

I am a big fan of Ghost Whisperer, however, I am very disappointed in the turn the story line has taken. Why did you kill off Jim??? I loved the way he and Melinda interacted with one another. He always so understanding and supportive. The only way I see of fixing this is to have all of it a dream,(very Dallas), Jim in a coma and Melinda asleep with her head on his bed. When she awakens, she remembers the dream and all about Sam, only now Sam is not dead. She races against time to find him and save his life before the accident happens. Of course, Jim will awaken from the coma and all will be normal again, or paranormal as it were. Is there anyone else out there who feel as I do?? Thank You. Paulette
