There she stands slender and tall
Changing her dress from summer to fall
Dancing in the light around
Firmly planted, yet never bound
Peering 'cross the tops of trees
Nurturing, caring, loving these
Looking out to guard them all
The dryad Elphamene

She wakes each morn and travels far
Guided by the golden star
Traversing to the water's side
Where fellow nymphs and fairies hide
Sipping from the waters cool
Yet, never sparing as a rule
For the waters create in her a strength
Calming the could be's and would be's angst
Sipping life from the River Cherazure
The Queen Elphamene

Now she prays for rain to come
To nourish all her arbors young
Reaching forth to grope the sky
With little branches raised up high
Sprouting leaves and buds for hair
The rain helps them growth both strong and rare
She bids the rain to show'r them all
The mother Elphamene

She prances through the boughs and roots
Kissing bark that makes their suits
Whisp'ring growth to newly germed seeds
And singing strength to jewel-tinted leaves
She lifts the limping branches high
And comforts the weeping willows' sigh
She breathes life to the foliage that surround
The goddess Elphamene

Many people pass her by and by
Unconsoled maidens used her shelter for their cry
Young children play games amongst the shrubbery
Shouting all sorts of chants and blubbery
Telling tales of nymphs and naiads
To fellow damsels and lads
All these amuse the Dryad
The great Elphamene

But suddenly the night has come
A desperate father on the run
Has passed her but was ov'rtaken
Murdered in the night leaving child forsaken
The goddess guards the child fiercely
Sheltering from cold and rain tearfully
'Til came a gentle searching soul
And to him she trusts the child's shaken soul
And off he rushed away from
The caretaker Elphamene

Back to the king he dashed in a hurry
And into his confidence he relayed his worry
The compassionate king took the child as his own
And hoped (in vain) no evil seeds had been sown
He raised her in his house with his own girls
And viewed them all five now, as his precious pearls
Away from the lady Elphamene
