The top Super Bowl commercials 2010 are left to the USA TODAY Super Bowl ad meter to choose. Their top
Super Bowl commercials 2010 had the usual suspects, but USA TODAY chose a candy as the winner. The Super Bowl ad meter had Betty White and Abe Vigoda, of all people, lead the pack this year. There were other big new ads from Doritos, Budweiser, E-Trade and Coca-Cola, but according to the USA TODAY ad meter, the top Super Bowl commercials 2010 all looked up at football playing old people.
According to the USA TODAY ad meter, Snickers' ad with Betty White and Abe Vigoda playing muddy football led the way. The Snickers commercial rated an 8.68 out of 10 by the ad meter panel, as White racked up another big honor after her lifetime achievement award at the SAGs. Although Snickers isn't a traditional Super Bowl commercial champion, they broke through in 2010 - much like the Saints did.
More typical contenders filled out the rest of the USA TODAY ad meter top 10. Doritos had some of the most notable ads, as their commercial with a dog using a bark collar on a human rated second, with an 8.27 rating. Three other Doritos ads placed just outside the top 10, as the snack food had perhaps the best overall performance, next to Budweiser.
Bud and Bud Light placed well among the top Super Bowl commercials 2010, as they usually do. This year's fare was led by a house made of Bud Light cans, and a Clydesdale and a bull being friends. Rounding out the top 5 was a Coca-Cola ad with a sleepwalker going through the wild for a Coke.
Other highly rated spots on the USA TODAY ad meter were an Audi ad about "Green Police," the E-Trade baby talking to a jealous girlfriend, a fiddling beaver for Monster, and Bridgestone Tires helping to send a killer whale back. But the top Super Bowl commercials 2010 had to make up for some duds as well.
The highly controversial Tim Tebow abortion ad was an ultimate letdown, rating a mere 5.31. Dockers had men without pants singing, which generated interest in their 'Free Pants' campaign but didn't impress the panel. The bottom 5 included the likes of Go Daddy, Sketchers and the new Select 55 beer.
