"It is every woman's inalienable right to have a pulled-together, stylish, confident wardrobe with money left over to live."

This is the manifesto of Sarah Jessica Parker, known to many as Carrie Bradshaw, the designer duds connoisseur from the famous HBO series, Sex and The City.

Parker has put together a fashion line called "Bitten" which is going to be released June 7, exclusive to Steve & Barry's stores.

What makes the "Bitten" line different from others is the price. All items are priced below $20. Some might be surprised, considering the line was created by a celebrity whose most recognizable role was a character who had a penchant for Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo shoes. Blahnik even created a shoe for Parker, the aptly named SJP.

Parker's goal is to enable all women to afford to wear the latest trends and to feel that they can "fit in" with fashion-conscious society without maintaining a budget.

Steve & Barry's prides itself on selling clothing at affordable prices. They say they are "about change" and committed to "changing the way that consumers shop for their clothes and changing the way retailers cater to them." The chain distributes the "Starbury" line, which is anchored by a $14.98 basketball shoe, designed and worn by New York Knicks All-Star point guard, Stephon Marbury. Marbury's purpose was to create and sell something where "people don't have to feel like their self-esteem has to be tied to the price of their sneakers."

Are these examples of the future direction of celebrity fashion lines? Will more celebrities and designers seek out discount stores to sell their products? We've already seen this in Target stores, which sell an Isaac Mizrahi collection, including a newly added line of wedding dresses that range in price from $50 to $160.

It's a refreshing development in a world where most have been excluded, except for the occasional purchase of a designer knock-off, or a venture to a sample sale.

I think this might be part of a trend away from high-end designers. You don't need to spend tons of money to look good.
