On the night of the rehearsal dinner for most weddings gifts are exchanged. The members of the bridal party receive gifts from the bride and groom. Typically the bride will buy all her bridesmaids similar gifts and the groom will do the same thing for his groomsmen. The bride and groom also exchange gifts. These gifts don't have to be high priced gifts but can if you both agree to do it that way. In general though a little token gift to celebrate the night before your wedding with your future spouse works great. Many women complain that guys are hard to shop for. Here are some tips for the bride in choosing a gift for her groom.

My first tip is to consider the interests of your future husband. Is there something that you know he loves to do, but that you hate? Well, give him a chance to enjoy this activity. If it is something that is best done with a group of his friends such as attending a ball game or going to a bar then make sure you purchase the tickets or a gift certificate to cover the cost for him and a few friends. Your future groom will be thrilled by the fact that you bought him something for an event that he knows isn't one of your favorite activities that he participates in and might not get to do a lot after he is married.

Is your groom a technology fan? Does he have a digital camera? If he likes them but does not have one this would be a great gift as he can use it at the reception and honeymoon. Even better yet a digital video camera would make a great gift. Is he a fan of computers or game systems? Then maybe the "hot game" that is on the market or a collection of games might be the perfect gift for him.

Takeaways
  • Us guys are easily pleased, but thrilled when we know a lot of thought went into the gift.
  • Try to get your husband a wedding gift for something he is afraid he will lose after he is married.
  • If buying him a ticket to a sporting event, get a couple extra tickets for his friends.
Did You Know?
Don't be surprised if your husband offers to use an extra ticket you get him to a sporting event on you. If you intended it as a guy's night out though politely decline his offer and tell him you wanted him and the guys to have a night together.

I suppose a gag gift is out of the question, eh?

Great tips. But yes it is hard to buy presents for men. I, too, tend to try to think about the hobbies of the man. Good article and great suggestions.
