Networking for Article Promotion: How to Find "Friends" on MySpace

As a beginning promoter, networking on MySpace may seem like an impossible task. As you browse other writers and authors pages you see each has thousands of friends while you sit dormant with only 3 (including Tom). Finding friends on MySpace to promote your work on Associated Content is a stress free, simple task anyone can learn.

To start finding friends to use as a networking tool you must first sign up for a MySpace account at www.myspace.com. After signing up for your account you will go through a small series of Question and Answer steps until you finally reach your home page. Before you can add friends, you will have to verify the email address you used to sign up for the account so be sure you use a viable address.

Now that you have signed up for your MySpace account and verified your email address you can begin to add friends and build your network.

At the top of your screen will be a series of words you can click on. These links will read from left to right: Home, Browse, Search, Invite, Film, Mail, Blog, Favorites, Forum, Groups, Events, Videos, Music, Comedy, and Classifieds. For our purpose, inviting friends, we want to click on the SEARCH link.

This link will take you to the MySpace Search page. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see a search section designated as "AFFILIATION FOR NETWORKING". You will fill in each of the sub-categories to describe the type of "Affiliation" or person you are looking for. For instance, I filled in PUBLISHING, WRITER, OTHER, FREELANCE. Once you have filled in this information you will click on the FIND button.
