I have lived in many locations near Waukesha, Wisconsin and I now live in it. Of all the places I truly enjoy Waukesha the most. There are many reasons I enjoy this city but the foremost has to be the aesthetics. The downtown has been left historic with restored nineteenth century structures lined w

ith brick sidewalks and a few brick streets. As the Fox River runs directly through downtown, a plethora of river walks and footbridges allows you to enjoy the water, summer, and wildlife. My personal favorite is Frame Park located directly next to downtown and which follows both sides of the Fox River. On one side the park you find a walking path and a biking path that runs next to a grassy area along the water where well-kept landscaping and beautiful Willow trees mark the banks. Along the other side of the river the paths continue but are marked by outdoor grass and cement theaters, a baseball field, and a place to rent anything from a paddleboat swan to a four-wheel four person peddle bike for seeing the town.

The downtown itself is spattered with shops offering sub sandwiches to café lounges, ice cream to art galleries, vintage music vinyl to the Civic Theater where you can watch live performances. There are no lacks of things to explore. Also on Saturdays you will find a farmers market with fresh local produce. There are several antique shops and thrift stores if treasure hunting is your thing. Or, if you're a little more hip, Fridays thru Sundays the Main Stage opens featuring live local music from young sprouting bands (and yes, they are skilled) for a cover charge of five dollars. There is even an excellent pool and outdoor skate park, a library also with a park and play area, even the central bus depot all within an easy walk of the downtown area.
