Post-Wedding Guide: The Wedding Thank You Card
Sending out the Thank You cards for your wedding may not be at the top of your list when settling in after the big. After all of the planning, the expenditures, and the time and effort from friends and family, you need to thank everyone that played an integral party on your big day.
Use these organization tips, as well as some advice on wording to use on the wedding thank you
card.
Organization
The best way to stay organized before sending out the wedding thank you cards is to keep a list of the people and and addresses that you used for the invitations. It is important to work from this list because out-of-towners and others may not have made it to the event, but still sent a gift.
Delegate a family member to help you write out or type out the names and addresses from this list, if it's not already on the computer.
When you do open your gifts and money envelopes, write directly on the back of the card what you received from that person. There is no need to create an extra list when you have the card and the name in front of you.
Also include other details on the card while opening gifts with your new spouse. "Oh, that's from Uncle Larry," he might say. But he has two Uncle Larrys. Make sure you can match the name to a person on your list.
Next, purchase or make some Wedding thank you cards. The cards do not have to be all the same, so if you find a sale or some discounted thank you cards, purchase them.
Be sure to also buy some stamps with a pretty design, or use the leftover love or wedding stamps, for a nice touch.
Writing a Personal Note
While you can type and print out the labels, and even the cards, each thank you card should have a short hand-written note inside the card.
