You don't have to be an artist to be impressed with art, and yet artists traveling to Santa Fe will especially be impressed with everything Santa Fe, New Mexico has to offer in terms of art.

Contemporary art is big in Santa Fe, and its no wonder, Santa Fe artists create some of the best art that can be found anywhere in the country. A perfect day in Santa Fe for an artist means strolling from one gallery to the next, filling one's life with creative ideas and inspiration.

For the traveler visiting Santa Fe, an art excursion through Santa Fe's art neighborhood is one that will not only be remembered, but also with a checkbook in hand, one where exquisite art pieces can be purchased and admired for years to come.

Strolling through the galleries

The adobe paradise starts at one end of Santa Fe and takes you to the other. Throughout the city, you can enjoy the great scenery, architecture and wonderful art featured throughout the galleries and museums.

From antiques, fine crafts, contemporary art and jewelry, to Native American art, photography, woodcrafts and carvings, Santa Fe provides the good life and great art.

Southwestern art enthusiasts will enjoy the many exhibitions and permanent collections featured throughout the artist plaza center. If you want to enjoy a leisurely stroll, I suggest the Palace of the Governors where you can walk the Santa Fe downtown Plaza and enjoy some of the finest American Indian art under a historical portal to one of the nation's oldest public building.

If you enjoy folk art, you must, you can enjoy a vast variety of ethnic crafts from hundreds of cultures at the Folk Art Museum. The museum has two wings. One includes Hispanic heritage art and then there's the Girard Collection where you can take in the largest collections of folk art in the world. "The Neutrogena Wing brings a vibrant and diverse assemblage of folk art to the museum from one man's lifelong travels and passion for collecting," reports the Santa Fe, New Mexico Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
