A powdered alcohol has been developed by Dutch students. They say it can be legally sold to minors. This latest invention in inebriation is called Booz2Go. It is available in 20-gramme packets that cost about $1.35 to $2.00 in American dollars, or 1-1.5 euros, according to Reuters.

To drink this invention, you just top it off with water, and you get a lime-colored and flavored drink that is bubbly. The alcohol content is just 3 percent.

"We are aiming for the youth market. They are really more into it because you can compare it with Bacardi-mixed drinks," 20-year-old Harm van Elderen said to Reuters.

The idea came up as part of a final-year project between Van Elderen and four classmates. They developed it at the Helicon vocational Institute, which is about an hour away from Amsterdam.

The project manager of the project, Martyn van Nierop, said "Because the alcohol is not in liquid form, we can sell it to people below 16", according to Reuters.

In the Netherlands, the legal age is only 16 for both smoking and drinking alcohol.

A stir was created years ago already in Germany over sweet drinks that contain alcohol and the powder form, called alcopops. A flavoring was sold in the United states three years ago, which was alcohol powder.

A few companies have already expressed interest in this new powdered alcohol. the students say that taxes could be avoided by the companies if they make the product commercially, since the alcohol is still in powder form, according to Reuters.
