I won't say I'm a coffee connoisseur. I'd say I'm more of a coffee addict. I am that person who wakes up in the morning with my first utterances of the day being "MUST...HAVE...COFFEE." I like a nice cup of coffee, but I'm usually more interested in just having the coffee. I am one of the more than three quarters of adult Americans say that drink coffee either daily or regularly, and one of the 108 Million Americans who drink the stuff daily.

Over time, my tastes have changed. I used to gravitate more to the Dunkin' Donuts style of a lighter coffee, but have over time developed more of a liking of Starbucks' bold roasts. So, where can one find that jolt of joe in the morning on the way off to work?

McDonalds. McDonalds apparently just realized the coffee they had been serving was not only just not good - it tasted suspiciously like water left in an ashtray on more than one occasion - it was actively driving the morning consumer away from their breakfast offerings. According to a 2004 ExxonMobil survey, the most commonly purchased item to go with a coffee is a bagel, muffin, doughnut, pastry or breakfast sandwiches. If people looking for a morning coffee aren't stopping by your place, you're missing out on selling 58% of these people food.

Takeaways
  • More than 108 Million Americans Drink Coffee Daily - 51% of adults
  • The most commonly purchased items to go with a coffee is are breakfast foods
  • Over time I have developed more of a liking of Starbucks' bold roasts
Did You Know?
The U.S. per capita consumption of coffee is estimated to be 424 servings, which includes in-home and out-of-home roast and ground, instant, and ready-to-drink (bottled/canned) coffee (Source: Nestle S.A.).

Thank You fellow caffine addict. Y'all might enjoy my article "How to make a chocolate covered cherry pie." It's the perfect enhancement to a good cuppa Columbian coffee
