Rock Stars' Cars & Guitars Set to Rock the Henry Ford Museum

Special Exhibit Features Some of Rock 'N' Roll's Legendary Cars and Guitars

Rock Stars' Cars & Guitars will open to the public on June 9, 2007. Rock icons like Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Billy F Gibbons and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top and Van Halen have all offered cars that are as legendary as the artists themselves are. Signature guitars will also be on display from the likes of Kirk Hammett, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry.

The exhibit is located at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, with items pulled from the Petersen Automotive Museum, Hard Rock Café, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc., Experience Music Project and several other private lenders. Detroit Muscle will also be on hand with some of its custom-built hot rods, not to mention the wealth of exhibits already at the Henry Ford Museum.

Some of the hottest rides in the exhibit include:

• The 1949 custom "Cadzzilla" Cadillac designed by Billy F Gibbons of ZZ Top, just one example from his distinguished collection
• Elvis Presley's 1971 Pantera famous for its bullet hole, shot by the King himself
• The 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Phaeton hot rod used by Van Halen and featured in the music video "Hot for Teacher"
• A custom-painted 1965 Rolls Royce that belonged to John Lennon.

Some of the significant guitars in the exhibit include:

• The black 1987 ESP custom guitar, nicknamed "Skully," played by Kirk Hammett. An iconic guitar from Metallica's heyday
• The 1973 Gibson ES-355TD guitar played and signed by the one and only Chuck Berry
• Bo Diddley's signature rectangular-shaped guitar, the Gretsch "Big B,"
• The custom-made five neck Hamer played by guitar icon Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick

Other classics include the motorcycle, "Hogzzilla," used by Gibbons, as well as iconic vehicles seen on tour and in the videos of Metallica ("I Dissapear" video), U2 (a Trabant from Zoo TV), KISS (custom Psycho Circus paint) and many others. Rock Stars' Cars & Guitars at Henry Ford Museum will run until September 30, 2007.
