Throughout my college life, I have taken around 35 online courses. So, you might say that I'm a bit of an expert. If your local community college or university offers this option, you may have heard several myths from students who have attended the school. While different instructors do have different teaching methods, many of the myths you hear about online college courses are usually false. In the article, I hope to shed some light on what you can expect from these classes.

Myths Surrounding Online College Courses #1: They're Easier

This online college course myth really depends on what type of student you are. For me, online college courses have been easier, for the most part. I have an easier time teaching myself, than I do learning from instructors. But, this isn't always the case for every student. In fact, even I had trouble with some classes provided by my college. For example, I barely passed the two math courses that I took online.

Myths Surrounding Online College Courses #2: You'll Never Have to Visit the Campus

Unless you're attending a college that is completely online, this myth is false. While most of your work for online college courses will take place on the internet, you will have to visit the campus from time to time to take tests and maybe even complete more complex assignments.

Myths Surrounding Online College Courses #3: All Tests Will Be Open Book

This is another online college course myth that depends on the instructor. As with any course, some instructors will and will not allow open book exams. For the most part, quizzes will be done online, while major tests, like finals, will take place on campus. For the most part, this will mean that you will not be able to use a book for the exam.
