Summer is a great time of year when students all over get a break for their hard work during the school year and finally get to relax in the most luxurious season of them all. However, in order to relax and have fun in the sun, one must have the according attire. But for most students, especially college students may have a hard time keeping up with expensive designers since they are probably trying to save for more important things such as books for school, a car, or maybe tuition next semester. That is why it is important that students shop smart in order to rock the latest fashions and still be able to save their money. As a college student myself, and an avid shopper, I have come up with five tips for saving money while shopping for the summer.

1.) Buy something because you love it, not because it was on sale.

When doing discount shopping, one mistake that often happens is that one could lose control due to the shock of extremely low prices. After the shock, one grabs everything regardless of if the item is even that appreciated by the customer. If the item does not wow you, do not buy it, even if the prices are low. Ask yourself "do I have anything to match this? When will I wear it, and what will I where it with?" If you can not answer these three questions, then you probably should not be buying the item.

2.) check out the thrift stores for cool finds

The best place to get a discount find is at thrift stores. While there may be many things that may not catch your eye at first, the more patient you are, the better your find just may be. Since fashion is something that is repeated over and over again in history, vintage pieces found in a thrift store can be named timeless and can be worn over and over again. There may also be name brand pieces available at some thrift stores and some clothes that still have price tags on them. The greatest thing about thrift stores is that you never know what you may find.

3.) Get some extra spending cash by selling your old clothes on eBay or at a garage sale.
