One person, one accident too few doctors. Soo many communities have shortage in doctors. It may take up to fourteen years to become a doctor, from the time the new doctors start their education to the time they enter practice. This seems like a very long time to some people. United States doctors are aging. We have over 250,000 doctors over the age of fifty-five who are planning on practicing less in the next couple of years. By the year 2030, the United States elderly would probably double in population, but the student entering medical schools probably will be declining. So it is a good idea to really know your doctor. You really need to keep your doctor, because soo many doctors are closing their practices to new patients. You better think long and hard before you switch doctors. If you decide you want to switch doctors you will have to do alot of the leg work. You may also have to change your nurse practitioners, dietitians, and/or pharmacists. You might be referred to a different hospital, if you doctor suggests it. If your doctor too busy to see you, he might suggest a hospital to go to for your illness. You have to remember doctors and hospitals are very busy and are prone to making mistakes. To help make your visit to a hospital is more successful take someone else with you who could be your advocate so he or she can monitor your care every step of the way.
Remember, doctors are in great demand, people are living longer and have lower death rates from cancer, heart disease, and from strokes. Some physicians help make sure you keep up with your routine screening, for example, pap test, which results fewer deaths from cervical cancer. Going to routine screening and doctors and listening to their partients over time will improve your care. So, alot of doctors are closing their doors to new patients because they are over book and want to give their patients the best possible care. This is fine, if you are on theinside, but what about the patients on the outside. How about if you have to move and need a new doctor? Hopefully this is not the case because it is a good idea to really know your doctor.
