According to the Associated Press, the hotel heiress, Paris Hilton, was released from jail Thursday morning, just a few days into her prison sentence. She was reportedly released due a medical condition.

Although she was let out of L.A. County's Lynwood Jail just after 2 a.m., she is now under house arrest and has to wear a monitoring device on her ankle for the remaining 40 days of her sentence. She was reportedly only in jail for a total of 5 days, says the Associated Press.

No details whatsoever were given about Paris' medical condition. The press also does not know if the condition was physical or psychological and neither Paris' lawyer nor publicist have been contacted for comment, says the Associated Press. The press believes that the medical condition is serious due to her early release, a rare move in the judicial system.

Even though the hotel heiress only spent a total of 5 days in prison, life behind bars was no picnic for the celebrity who is used to her LA mansion. She was housed on in the special needs unit of the rather new jail. Paris was also separated from almost all of its 2,200 inmates. Hilton did not have a cellmate, and her cell was a 12x8 foot room. It was also reported that Paris refused to eat most of the jail's food.

Back on May 4, 2007, Judge Michael T. Sauer said that Paris would not be allowed a work release or be able to pay for the jail of her choice. The judge also said that she would not be able to go under house arrest instead of jail time. The Associated Press reported that Judge Saur was consulted about Paris' early release.

Now Paris Hilton will be ditching Lynwood jail for confinement to her beautiful home just above the Sunset Strip.

It's no different from Martha Stewart's house arrest. It can get annoying not to go out, but her house is so big, it's probably more freedom than the other inmates had before they were incarcerated.

Lock her back up. Not only is this absolutely unfair to the majority of the American people, who would never be treated so well by the penal system, but also, it's pathetic! Seriously, this pampered little girl needs to wake up, have her fortune raked out from under her dead brain, and then do something with her otherwise very void life.

Lock her up and throw away the key. That sounds good to me.

What I want to know is what judge signed off on this, since psychiatrists don't have the authority to spring prisoners on their own.

How is Paris ever going to learn " a lesson " if she is still getting the princess treatment?I say lock her up and keep her there before someone has to pay with their life.

Nice...now she can go out and get liquored up and kill someone this time! It isn't just her, though, this country does not take this type of crime seriously enough until someone is dead. It is pathetic.

DUI is a serious matter. Thinking the sentence was too harsh was absurb. She had failed two pay two parking tickets and backed into a parked vehicle earlier. Of course, she was never charged in the incident.Nicole Richie may be next. Wouldnt that be hot?

If it were me curled up crying in my cell, they would have told me to shut-up and then hit me with a billy club. Great article. Check out some of my content.

What is wrong with this picture? Brian, what are you smoking? She cries she's have a heart attack and they let her go home? If it were you or me we'd be sent to the hospital and the next day we'd be sent back to our cell.

Just to make a few corrections/updates: Paris Hilton technically spent 3 days in jail, but they're crediting her for 5. Also, you guys are right (and quick!!!) there is speculation that she may be heading back to prison. :) Thanks for all the feedback!

yeah Brian! It seems the Judge who sentenced Paris is very upset that she was released! he stated that she was NOT to be placed on house arrest
