It's that time of year again, that wonderful part of the year which is one woman's dream and another woman's nightmare. Wedding Season. I've suffered through two weddings this year, and it's only June. Whether you're a bridesmaid or just a friend of the bride, it's a tough job, and yes, you have to do it. Luckily, I've picked up some tips that have really come in handy and I think they can help you, too. 1.) Don't argue. Never argue with a bride to be, especially if she's your best friend. She'll feel hurt and betrayed, and rightfully so seeing as this is HER day. If you have something that really needs to be said, for instance, the bridesmaids dresses aren't that flattering, pull her aside and kindly suggest a different color or cut. Now this tip isn't foolproof, but if your friend really values your opinions, she will listen and appreciate your input. An example: My friend recently got hitched but months before those bridesmaids ever marched down that aisle, I tried to convince my friend to change her weddings colors. Originally, she wanted bright red bridesmaids gowns, and while red is a sexy and vibrant color, many women have trouble pulling it off. I suggested that she change the dresses from red to peach. Peach is one of those fantastic colors that looks great on everyone. She seriously considered buying peach gowns instead, but alas, she stuck with the red. So you see, I almost won that battle.
2.) Be on time. I can't stress this enough. Never, ever, under any circumstances be late or the bride will serve your head on a silver platter. You are going to want everything to go as smoothly as possible for your friend on her wedding day. An example: On the morning of this same bride's wedding, I had a feeling that I should head to the church early. It's a good thing that I did because my friend was so upset at her bridesmaids who decided to show up when they felt like it. She really needed someone to talk to before the wedding, and I was that person. Luckily, the rogue bridesmaids finally appeared and the ceremony went on as planned.
