Stress an aggravating little demon which millions of people suffer from. Stress is a reaction in the body which cause physical and physiological problems to a person. There are many side affects of stress but one of the most common side effects is insomnia, insomnia can mean that a person is unable to fall asleep, or waking throughout the night and not be able to fall back to sleep. Stress can also age a person. Children and teens are lucky and have skin that will bounce back when stressful problems have passed, however for adults it is not that easy. An adults skin has less springy tissue than that of a younger person, this tissue hangs on the stress embedded in the dermis. This along with other consequences of stress adds years to your body.

The question is how do you over come stress? You would think the easy answer would be to relax. However for many people the thought of relaxing simply adds to their stress because they ask themselves 'how am i meant to relax with all these problems?' The answer is actually more simple than just relaxing because there are many different things people can do to relax and ease their mind.

For those who like to be more active and cannot stand the thought of meditation or breathing exercises, can always try exercise. Although this seems the opposite of relaxation it is actually a great way to get relaxed. Exercise boosts circulation and can burn up some of those nasty little stress chemicals that are running around the body. Exercise generates endorphins or feel-good hormones which kick start relaxation. Two great forms of exercise that many people would not think of are laughter and sex. So you don't have to join a fitness club or even leave the comfort of your home to get a good work out.

How is laughter and sex a good workout to reduce stress? Well to start 10 seconds of laughter can raise your heart rate to 10 minutes of rowing. Sex is a great way to boost your circulation and starts the release of opiates in the brain. Both these activities cause the parasympathetic nervous system to get into go time and release relaxant hormones causing tranquility after-wards.
