With this aim in mind Yahoo launched Web Yahoo Messenger on June 7. It will be very helpful where you have restriction of downloading software. We can easily think of about our office premises where sometime the software installation is restricted.

You don't need to install software any more to access Yahoo Messenger. Yahoo Messenger can be directly accessed from your Internet Explorer browser. Google has already done this in G-mail (G-talk) chat. G-talk is also web based application instant messaging application. If you just want to do the written chat with your friends using G-talk you don't require any special software. You can do the same from your G-Mail account web browser.

For time being Yahoo Web Messenger is offering only simple chat option, your yahoo buddy list and add buddy/contact facility of Yahoo Messenger. Same as Yahoo Messenger you can chat with your friends using this Yahoo Web Messenger. The added advantage is the chat history. You can see the chat history of all your old chat transcripts while you are using Yahoo Web Messenger.

Yahoo Web Messenger is compatible with IE 6 and up, Firefox or Safari. Your system need to have Adobe Flash 9 installed in order to run Yahoo Web Messenger.

There are few things which can not be done with this Yahoo Web Messenger. You won't be able to conference with your friends, transfer files or share photos while chatting with your friends using Yahoo Web Messenger. You also won't be able to do voice chat and video (webcam) chat using Yahoo Web Messenger. You will also miss the IMvironments of Yahoo messenger when you use Yahoo Web Messenger.
