Best Fireworks in Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach Florida

The Fourth of July is the best all-American holiday, for not only is the country celebrating its independence, but families come together to barbecue, swim and enjoy beautiful fireworks in the night sky. Fireworks on the Fourth of July are a must. Without them, it would be like summer strawberry shortcake without whip cream.

In Florida and other southern states buying fireworks is legal, but lighting your own doesn't have the same appeal as watching professional fireworks blaze open the darkness. It is also dangerous, if one doesn't know what they are doing.

In Edgewater Florida, there are some of the best local fireworks that Volusia County has to offer. Edgewater is a sleepy community located 4 miles south from New Smyrna Beach, surf capitol of the world. Edgewater's residents spend a lot of their time fishing and boating on the Indian River, and there are some great docks and clear views of the river from Riverside Drive. On the Fourth of July, residents from Edgewater are allowed to park their cars on the grass, to watch fireworks shoot out from the pier further down near New Smyrna Beach. In New Smyrna Beach the towns blend into one another on the mainland. But there is a better way to see the fireworks, and beat all the traffic in the process.

There is a wonderful place called Riverside Park in New Smyrna Beach. During the day it is a dog walking park, fishing pier and playground. There is a beautiful dock and walkway, with widened views of the Indian River, where yachts, sailboats, and tour boats sail by. The water is also loaded with baby dolphins, so there is always something to see. But at night on the Fourth, you are in for a treat.
