Meditation describes the state of concentration or attention on any object of thought or awareness. It involves the attention inward to the mind itself. Meditation is considered to have a special feeling from within which is a positive cycle that is sure to create a new and wonderful life for the happy living. Apart from this, it is also a process of liberation and healing. Also it is one of the alternative therapies which have been proven for its quality.

Mediation can be generally classified beneath the mind-body medicine. Nowadays even doctors are recommending meditation to improve the general health such as to decrease the blood pressure, to aid for easier breathing for asthma patients, to relax and relieve from tension. It is the safest and simplest way to balance a person's mental, physical and emotional state of mind. Meditative techniques are known for diverse religions and it is something which unites different beliefs and cultures. This is because people from different civilizations and traditions practice this unique process in one form or another.

It has been conveyed that meditation is the key to open the doors of mysteries to the mind. All meditation methods are effective in reducing stress even though they do so in different ways. The main characteristic of meditation is conscious breathing. The single most effective relaxation technique is conscious regulation of breath. Breathing is the only function which can perform consciously as well as unconsciously. It can be completely voluntary act or a completely involuntary act. It is controlled by two nerves.
