I was considering the plight of Paris Hilton and the bigger question in my mind, is what will this do to her career, be it as it may?

At one time, after the oh, my, sex video, she was white hot. Now under house arrest (maybe not), she appears, again, to have gotten away with a lot. Just hold a simple life minute, there, I disagree. Huh? What is she now, 27 or 28? America, and men, will grow tired of her and she will fade away. The pictures recently don't look as flattering. And could you imagine the next video?: "Hey, what's that glowing thing around her ankle?" Her voyeurism days are over. Hit the streets, honey, you are yesterday's news. She will, however, never be a homeless person, therefore never write torch songs like Jewel. Imagine.

There are others however, who have sealed their fate by their choices. Three names: Mel Gibson, Michael Richards and Woody Allen. Can you ever watch something like "Ransom" and root feverishly for Mel Gibson? Will Michael Richards ever be as funny? And who will pay to see a Woody Allen movie at the theaters anymore, rather waiting to rent the DVD or skip it altogether,.

Another one who is on the bubble is Lindsay Lohan. The youngster who was so cute in "The Parent Trap" has grown into a beautiful young woman, but recently I saw her on Letterman and she has a hard appearance to her. She already has had a long career, but from where I sit, I don't think it will be that much longer. Who, right now, could honestly say that she will grow into a older actress? Someone like maybe Diane Keaton or better yet, Ann Margaret. No, honey, this is no old actress. I don't want to be fatalistic, but she is a good value in the office death pool right now. Who would be surprised to see her perish in a car wreck, high on drugs and alcohol? I hope I am wrong and she turns it around. It's funny. She is a much better actress than Hillary Duff, but Duff seems to have made better choices in her personal life. Just look at Lohan's family life, it is no wonder she is unstable.

So, Paris, enjoy your bon bons, because sweetheart, the ride is almost over. You are still in the park, but you will be near the end of the line in the stadium of stardom.
