Leaving notes wouldn't be the best approach. Being open about this kind of issue would be the best thing you can do for your daughter. Also let her know about this issue when the time is about to come.

I have to agree with Kary that leaving a note sends the wrong message. It is a difficult topic to discuss for both the mother and the daughter, but a note just isn't the way to go about it.

Such a difficult subject to broach. I have three daughters, all of which are well into their teens. I have to say, though, I do not agree with leaving a note. If your daughter thinks you're uncomfortable talking about, she will remain uncomfortable talking about it and possibly ashamed, too.
