Chris Cornell has a new solo CD that just dropped into your local music stores, but is it really worth a listen? I am not sure that my opinion will be the same as the next guys, but I am utterly unimpressed with Carry On. Was Chris just trying to fulfill a contract with this one, or is he serious? I find this to be a really good question and one to ponder as I tell you about this new Chris Cornell album.

When the first song gets rolling, 'No Such Thing', you begin to have some hope for this CD. By the time the 2nd song, 'Poison Eye', repeats its chorus for the 3rd time you are ready to start skipping through to find a good song (which I did not do, as I faithfully listened to each and every song in hopes to find something good to tell you about this CD). But I am sorry to say (in my own humble opinion) that there really are no "good" songs on this CD. Chris Cornell has bombed out with Carry On.

The funniest portion of this CD is Cornell's cover of Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean'. I really wanted to like this cover, mostly because I think it is fun when other artists cover Michael Jackson's songs. It's good to hear a totally different version of something you have heard only one way for so many years. But, once again, there really wasn't anything good about this cover. It is off beat, bland and just plain BORING.

To think that Chris Cornell went from frontman of some of the most awesome, well loved bands (Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog) to making this new release full of nothing special or even really worth listening to is almost unbelievable. Am I just being too harsh? I almost think that you, as my readers, should go pick up a copy of this CD for yourselves and let me know what you think about it, let me know if I have misjudged some wonderful piece of album work or whether this new CD by Chris Cornell should have gone out with last nights trash!

Might I add in conclusion that I once was a huge Chris Cornell fan, his vocals are (usually) amazing. BUT, he did not sing up to his potential, by any means, in any of the songs on Carry On.

I had the chance to see Chris in concert (yes, sold out the show!) this year, and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! His voice sounded better than ever, and I can't wait for him to come back through town!!

I think Cornell was trying to experiment with various musical techniques and wanted to do his own thing. I like the CD and would recommend it.

sounds like you all need to get a life and stop trying to kiss Chris Cornell's ass. He sold out after Soundgarden broke up and the music just hasn't been the same. If he cared enough about his fans and the quiality of his music, he wouldn't wound the same on every song.
