For any wedding with a garden theme, the centerpieces gracing the tables that your guests will spend their time chatting away at can become the focal point of the room. Therefore, you will need to pay special attention to every detail. Surprisingly, creating a centerpiece can be done in as little as five to ten minutes. For this particular project, you will need to purchase one greenery garland strand with floral or berry accents, a hot glue gun, one long stemmed glass tea light candle holder, and one scented tea light candle. All of these products can be found easily at an arts and crafts store, such as Michael's or Hobby Lobby (www.michaels.com or www.hobbbylobby.com).

First, the tea light candle holder must be at least eight inches tall (or close to it) and have a slender stem (making it unobtrusive for your guest's dinner conversations) For an example, visit http://www.acandleco.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/1266/subcatid/0/id/180977. Next, cut a five to six inch strip of your greenery garland, adjusting the amount according to the size of your candle holder's stem. Add a touch of very hot glue from your glue gun at a point where the stem and the base connect at the bottom, and quickly place one end of the garland over the dot to secure it. Next, carefully twist the delicate greenery around the stem. For this part, you can choose to use more greenery to completely cover the candle holder's stem if you would prefer. Now, place another dot of hot glue where the stem meets the top, and secure. Make sure that your garland does not touch the portion of your candle holder that will get hot due to the candle's flame . For extra security, light a candle within the holder for a few minutes before adding any garland and test to see which areas are affected by its heat. Remember, your tea lights will be burning for quite a while, so you will want to ensure the safety of you guests by keeping all greenery away from the flame and hot glass.

Takeaways
  • For this project, you will need a greenery garland, a hot glue gun, a candleholder, and tea lights.
  • To ensure that your candles will burn throughout the entire reception, use votives instead.
  • It is not necessary to light the candles. The fragrance will still be detected.
