Over 400 people across the country sent e-mails and made calls to the City Attorney over the "outrage" of Paris Hilton getting out of jail before serving the full 23 days of her sentence.

First, these people need to get a life. Why are they concerned about "making her pay" for a misdeamenor charge. The reason is simple, jealousy.

America is one of the few countries that has such hateful people that they would rather let a murderer out of jail than a person of wealth.

The jail Paris Hilton was in was already overcrowded. They transferred other people just to get Paris Hilton in, when a normal person would have just been sent home.

Where was the outrage when Brandy killed someone in her accident, was supposed to be charged, and never was?

Where is the outrage that R. Kelly was accused of having sex with a minor (14 years old), was arrested, but has never been tried. In fact, he just keeps getting a lot of money on his music.

Where was this outrage when Michelle Rodriguez (Lost) only spent 2 hours in jail for a day sentence for DUI?

Where was this outrage when Robert Blake got away with murdering his wife?

Where was the outrage when Martha Stewart was serving her time, while Kenneth Lay drank expensive champaign with the money of his former employees.

The bottom line is that average Americans don't like women who have power, money, or beauty. They want them to suffer and to spend more time in jail than the average person just to knock them off the "high horse" that the average American put them on.

I was not a fan of Paris Hilton, but since this ordeal my eyes have been open to the double standard that does exist, and it is worse if you are a beautiful woman.

Those people who had all that free time to e-mail and call about Paris Hilton should really get a life, and stop worrying about stuff that has nothing to do with them.

Whether Paris Hilton is in or out of jail does not affect them in the least. They will not get one minute of fame or one more dollar in their bank account.

Jealousy is a powerful thing, and it seems that Paris Hilton is being judged by people who will never be in her eye sight or in her league.

Takeaways
  • Bias led the Sheriff to transfer other prisoners to get Paris Hilton
  • Paris Hilton was still in custody, just at home, and it was back to the original sentence of 45 days
  • Paris Hilton is a victim of a double standard.

I agree with you, to a point. People have been very mean-spirited about Paris Hilton. It is a shame that so many people get so much pleasure from another's downfall. I vote for her to serve an appropriate consequence for driving drunk. My in-laws were killed by a drunk driver one afternoon, and our lives were changed forever.

Newsflash: It has to start somewhere. All your listings of high-profile jerks who get away with whatever they want has to stop; on that I'll agree. So, who do we start with? It's my hope that miss Hilton is only the first of many such overly rich snots who gets treated the same as the rest of us.
