Learning to Live With Being Molested

It's going to be ok. You will be all right. Just let it go. When you have some one say these things to you, you can bet they have never dealt with or been molested. I cannot count how many times some one has said these things to me, including my family!

Over 15 years ago my grandfather's friend molested me. He came to my grandparents home to visit and well got a little too friendly with me. I didn't tell anyone until a while later when my stepmother was giving me a bath and I yelled it out when she tried to clean me up. I didn't understand what was going on or what had happened. I was so scared by the look on my Dad's face and him saying he was going to kill the man. I told my Dad not to kill him because he would go to jail and I didn't want my daddy in jail. I was only a small child but old enough to understand that I didn't want to loose my Dad. A few phone calls were made to family and a few arguments were had. I was so confused and all I knew was that I hated that man who did those weird things to me. They had made me feel funny inside and made me feel weird about myself. Time passed and I didn't see the man again until I was older.

I asked my grandma why he was there at our house and she pulled me into a room. She told me to keep my mouth closed because my grandpa didn't know. She said it would kill him if he did. I was so hurt. I was more scared of hurting my grandpa though so I kept my mouth shut. I didn't want to hurt my grandpa in anyway. More time passed and I learned that what had happened to me was bad and wrong on so many levels.
