Spiderman 3 Review
More like 'Spiderman the Musical'
Director: Sam Raimi
Release Date: May 4, 2007
Runtime: 140 minutes
Well, I actually have some mixed feelings about the new Spiderman 3 movie. I went to see it on Friday, the day it came out, and I was really excited and everything that I was going to see what I thought was going to be "the best movie of the year". The movie was not what I thought it would be. As expected, the graphics were really great and Venom looked just as cool as I wished he would look. Though they created Venom so well they really should have given him more screen-time then they did and maybe cut-off a little bit of the dancing and singing. That brings me to my next point, what was up with all the dancing and singing? Peter Parker literally started 'busting moves' in the middle of the street. Sure I understand how the symbiote changed his suit and made him act differently but the amount of singing and dancing in this movie is just plain ridiculous! But no it was not enough for the suit to change the personality of Peter, they had to change his appearance everytime he put the suit on as well. I noticed that when he was wearing the suit he suddenly got black hair, black eye liner, and a new 'emo' hair style with his hair across his face. Another point about the movie is that the director just tried to thrown in as many villains as he could into the movie (such as Venom's 15 minute screen-time) and just ended up with a cornucopia of different plots that were hard to follow. For example, what ever happened to the Sandman's ill daughter? They had so many villains that couldn't focus equally on all of them and ended up with many flaws.
Now for some *SPOILERS*
I didn't like the fact that Spiderman kills Venom at the end because, and I know a lot of people will agree with me on this point, he is my favorite character. The team thing between Spiderman and the "new" Green Goblin was a bit cheesy in my opinion. The storyline was cool and everything, I just don't think they are going to make another one :-\
