There has been a buzz around Deadsy since 1995. Their first two outings on record never made it past the "advance CD" stage, and no major label picked them up - until now. Their first major label release, COMMENCEMENT, has finally hit the streets and found its audience. Taking the best from '80s New Wave and shaking it up with sounds from today (Bauhaus meets Gary Numan meets Orgy meets Marilyn Manson), one could say they are heavy-neo new wave. But it's not that easy to pigeonhole the band's sound. The band's first video for their single "The Key To Gramercy Park" is more glam than it is heavy and showcases the band's versatility and sense of humor.

They are, for the most part, very unique. Fronted by P. Exeter Blue I (mom and dad: Cher and Gregg Allman; call him Elijah Blue), he has his own style of writing and performing. Joining Blue in the line-up are Carlton Megalodon, Dr. Nner, Creature and Alec Püre. Each projects his own individual style, bringing it full circle on COMMENCEMENT. The songs are rich and textured musically; hypnotic lyrically. "Winners," "Mansion World" and a cover of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" are among the standout tracks. It is uncertain where Deadsy will find their widespread audience. They have appeared on the Family Values Tour and are on the bill with with Korn and Puddle Of Mudd (beginning of July through August 1st). Radio play is usually a crapshoot for bands of this caliber. But then again, no one expected to hear Nirvana, Metallica or countless other bands on the radio. MTV and MTV2 are certain to pick them up and their website* is generating more hits every day. Possibly the best endorsement Deadsy can expect is word-of-mouth. So, let me start it. From my mouth to your ears, "Have you heard Deadsy yet?"
