Motivating your child to make more money will definitely develop him into a financially aware and secure individual when he grows up. It's never too early to start teaching your child how to invest, save and earn, as the skill can progress and improve with experience and age. It is one kind of support that your child will surely thank you for in the long run.

There are several techniques and strategies that you can use to effectively encourage your child to make money off different things. Take each course gradually and make sure that he learns each lesson because some approaches may be more complicated and confusing. It is vital that you start with simple ones first to make him adapt and develop interest in the art of making money. Here's how.

1. Allowance. You can start allotting maybe one or two dollars a day for your child aside from his packed lunch. Tell him that you expect him to do three things with the money: buy food, invest and save. Allow your kid to divide the cost any way he wants, as long as he shows you a detailed record of every cent spent, invested or saved.

Giving him his own money will help him develop a sense of responsibility to use it wisely. As time goes by, you may give him his allowance every three days, then gradually shifting it to every week.

2. Savings. Teach your child how he can have more if he learns how to save. Saving is a very important trait for your child to learn. It will help him delay gratification to earn bigger rewards in the end. You can start by simply buying him a piggy bank or opening a small bank account for him and explaining how the money grows if he keeps it in there for a time.

3. Business. Business is a very exciting and fun for your child especially if he does it with you. Give him ideas and vivid examples of how he can make more money off his allowance or personal belongings. Try opening a lemonade stand or comic book rental with him on weekends. Explain how the investment returns and the added privileges he will have of earning more money if he invests first instead of spending it all on the things he wants.

The main goal in motivating your child to make more money is to help him develop creativity and resourcefulness. Praise him for each new and weird idea that he comes up with even if it is not truly viable, as long as he aims to earn more off it.
