Description:The English foxhound belongs to the large sized dog breed family. This is one of the most popular dogs out there. It is very popular among the hunting hobbyist. The body on this dog is pretty much is proper proportion. It has long-strong legs, a thick torso, a barrel chest, a square shaped head with droopy-long ears, a long-slender tail, and a medium sized-thick muzzle.
Fur on this breed is short and rough to the touch. Most of their body is covered with white fur which is accompanied by large patterns all over it. The patterns on this breed can be found its back, tail, and head areas. The pattern colors are brown and black. Brown fur covers the bottom half of the dog's tail. Black fur circles cover both sides of the dog and are accompanied by smaller brown circles in the center of the black circles. Brown fur covers the dog's ears, eyes, and cheekbones.
Height:
Height between the two genders will vary in this breed of dogs. The males normally stand to be 22-25 inches (56-63 cm) tall, and the females normally stand to be 21-24 inches (53-61 cm.)
Weight:
Weight between the two genders will NOT vary in this breed of dog. Both the male and female usually weigh in at 65-70 pounds (29-32 kg.) Do not allow your dog to weigh 7 pounds under its lowest given weight, or weigh 10 pounds over its highest given weight.
Temperament:
The English foxhound is highly intelligent, though training can take a little more time than it would with other dogs due to the fact this breed is also highly independent. They love to hunt! Along with this dog's many other passions, this dog is very bold, obedient, responsible, and playful. This dog is very well behaved around children of all ages.
Life span:
This dog breed lives an average life of 10 years.
Living conditions:
The English foxhound is NOT recommended for the apartment life. They are generally very active indoors even after a days worth of exercise. They need at the least an average sized yard.
