The taste of sweet treats is something most everyone loves. Unfortunately, for those who must watch their sugar intake it can be frustrating to be unable to eat sweets when it seems like everyone around you is indulging. Artificial sweeteners have helped ease the burden of going sugar free and now many snack items are using sweeteners to give a taste of sweetness to those on a restricted diet.

So, what are some of the best sugar free treats out there? Let's take at look at what is being offered in the way of treats that are either very low in sugar or sugar free.

Are you looking for a frozen taste sensation without sugar? The possibilities are nearly endless. There are sugar free popsicles, fudgsicles, ice cream, and a wide variety of other frozen novelties. Blue Bunny has created a line called Sweet Freedom, which has no sugar added. There are a variety of ice creams such as butter pecan and chocolate almond fudge, as well as novelties like black raspberry bars, mint ice cream sandwiches, and vanilla sundae cones to tame your sweet tooth and cool you down during the hot summer months.

Cookies are a sweet that remind us of our earliest years. A plate of warm cookies, perhaps with gooey, melting chocolate could fix whatever ailed us. Thankfully, for those who must restrict their sugar intake, several companies offer sugar free cookie options that are tasty. Murray offers an array of cookies made with Splenda. Some of the varieties they offer, all sugar free, include chocolate chip, cream sandwich cookies, fudge dipped grahams, gingersnaps, oatmeal, and peanut butter.

Pepperidge Farms offers sugar free cookies in three of their distinctive flavors, Milano, Mint Milano, and chocolate chip. Nabisco has the Snackwells line which has great cookies such as Lemon Crème Sandwich Cookies.

Takeaways
  • Those on a sugar restricted diet can now enjoy sweet treats.
  • Sugar free snacks are available for purchase online.
