Profile of the Great Pyrenees
The Great Pyrenees belongs to the large dog breed family. They have big bulky bodies that are actually dissent proportion. It has a large-circular head, long-thick muzzle, a barrel-like chest, long-thick legs, big-bulky paws, long-muscular torso, and a mighty-thick tail. Their ears are semi-long and hang down low.
Fur on this breed is long and thick. This breed's coat includes an undercoat and topcoat. The undercoat is to help protect the dog from harmful sunrays and from water reaching the dog's skin. Fur color is a really bright white and no other colors.
Height:
Height between the two genders will vary in this breed of dog. The males normally stand to be 27-32 inches (69-81cm) tall, and the females normally stand to be 25-29 inches (63-74cm) tall.
Weight:
Weight between the two genders will vary in this breed of dog. The males usually weigh is at about 100 pounds (45kg), and the females usually weigh in at about 85 pounds (38kg.) It is not healthy for your dog to weigh 10 pounds below the given weight. They will normally weigh to be about 10 or 15 pounds more than the given weight.
Temperament:
The Great Pyrenees is a devoted guarding who goes to great lengths when it comes to protecting their family. This breed of dog loves children of all ages. They are gentle giants that are bold and courageous. This dog is also intelligent, caring, loving, playful, and lively. They are generally very suspicious about strangers and can grow physically aggressive toward the stranger.
Life span:
This breed of dog sadly only lives an average life of 10 years.
Living conditions:
This breed of dog is not recommended to live the apartment life. Their size is way too large for the average apartment and it strives to have roaming room. The Great Pyrenees is not generally active indoors but is quite active outdoors. They need at least a medium sized yard.
