Since Myrtle Beach is an ocean front town, it's not surprising that it's packed with seafood buffets. Many of the seafood buffets offer the Calabash style of seafood, which is lightly battered and then deep fried, as well as other seafood items. However, none of the other seafood buffets have the same claim to fame as Original Benjamin's Calabash Seafood Buffet. Original Benjamin's claims to be the largest seafood buffet in the world, with over 170 items each night. The buffet also continuously wins the "Best Of The Beach" award, which is awarded to spectacular restaurants in Myrtle Beach. Original Benjamin's is located in Restaurant Row off of Highway 17 in Myrtle Beach, and it's very recognizable from the street because of it's lighthouse shape and nautical artifacts that dot the parking lot.

We decided to try Original Benjamin's Calabash Seafood Buffet during our trip to Myrtle Beach because we found a coupon in one the Tourist books for $4 off an early bird buffet. This coupons are plentiful, so if you are planning on going to Original Benjamin's it helps to look for one. Since our coupon was only good until 3:30 PM, we decided to arrive at Original Benjamin's at opening time, which is 2:30 PM. Although we didn't have to wait long to be seated because we arrived early, we noticed that shortly after we were seated the restaurant began to get busy. When we left the restaurant there was a line out the door, and this was only at 4 PM on a Thursday!

Since Original Benjamin's is a buffet your server won't do much except fill your drinks and take away your dirty plates, but our server was friendly all the same.
