Reducing Your Appetite with the Atkins Diet

Surprisingly when you are on the Atkins diet you will find that your appetite has diminished. According to many of the people who use the Atkins diet they no longer feel hungry between meals like they used to. Naturally this makes it much easier to stay on the diet and loose weight. Unlike other diets that dictate that you have to be hungry between meals in theory or practice. With the Atkins diet using its special combination of foods and ingredients you no longer have to be hungry. The main part of the Atkins diet is the protein, unlike carbohydrates, protein does not leave you feeling hungry. Have you ever notice that when you eat a meal heavy in carbohydrates that you soon feel hungry again? That is because carbohydrates do not have much staying power. On the other hand protein when combined with a small amount of good fat keeps you from feeling hungry for a much longer time.
One of the main foods on the Atkins diet is eggs. The nice thing about eggs is that eggs are one of the best and quickest forms of protein. There was a recent study that showed when you eat eggs for breakfast then you feel considerably less hungry throughout the day. The study used two groups of women. One of these two groups had eggs for breakfast and the other one had bagels and cream cheese. The interesting part is that the calorie counts for both breakfasts were identical. Both groups kept track of what they ate though out the rest of the day and how they felt then answered questions about their experiences. It was found that the group that ate the eggs felt more satisfied throughout the day and ate less at each meal.
Eggs have about 6 grams of protein each. This causes the blood sugar to be more even and you to feel more satisfied. Both of these factors help to curb cravings. In egg yolks you have lutein and xenazanthin both of which are very good for your eyes. That is why it is important to eat the whole egg not just the white. Another ingredient found in eggs is choline and this is very good for mental function. That is in addition to being a very good and natural appetite suppressant.
