Ocean's Thirteen

Whereas a Lot of Sequels Have Underwhelmed Mostly Because of Constant Overhyping, This One is Smart Enough Not to Fall Victim to That

First off, I want to start off by asking why everyone keeps trashing "Ocean's Twelve?" The movie, in my opinoin anyway, is nowhere as bad as people keep making it out to be. It was an entertaining ride for the most part with some inspired sequences. It also had another kick ass score by David Holmes, who also did a kick ass score for "Ocean's Eleven." This had a great soundtrack which is great to listen to. The only glaring omission from the CD is the "A La Menthe" song by Nikkifurie which plays during Vincent Cassel's breakdancing sequence through the security laser beams. Blasphemy!!

But enough about that one. This has been a big summer for sequels so far, and all them (with the exception of "28 Weeks Later") are at the third movie. Of all the threequels so far, "Ocean's Thirteen" is the only one that really delivers without any fustration and overstuffing of plot and characters. True, the story and twists in plot are a bit hard to follow at times, but that was also the case in the last two movies in this trilogy, so why should this one be any different? This is a movie that invites you to sit back and relax and to have some fun. For me, this movie delivered a good time at the movies.

The gang is back with the exception of Julia Roberts who was in the last two movies, and Catherine Zeta-Jones who appeared in the last movie. It's just as well, with all due respect, because there is not really much they could do here. They would have been wasted in bit parts that would not have required much from their presence. As George Clooney and Brad Pitt point out at the beginning of the movie:

"IT'S NOT THEIR FIGHT!"

Sounds fun. Ocean's 12 didn't interest me, but this might be better.

I'm looking forward to this one, but I hated the second one. Sorry, that I couldn't finish reading your article, I was afraid you'd give something away and ruin it for me.
