In kayaking, there are three essentials that should be mastered for the ideal performance. These three essentials include: rotation, angle and posture. With the combinations of these essentials, you'll soon find yourself at the top of the ladder of success. There are many more parts to the basics of kayaking; however, these three are extremely important as well.

Posture affects our kayaking abilities all around. With posture, you will find that there is more balance in the canoe, and you can easily move around and make better use of all the strokes. Your strokes will be much more efficient, and do much better than when you don't have any posture. As well, good posture also gives you more confidence and support in what you're going to do which is more of a Placebo affect really. With good posture, you'll find that you can access more area.

The ability to rotate your torso gives you more power when you stroke. Most of the power when you stroke does not come from your arm strength, in fact it is supposed to come from your torso; thus, remember to stretch your torso before you kayak. Lacking the space to rotate your torso, will give you less space to move around, and do different technique paddles like pry, and pulls which means that it will be harder to steer the canoe around. Without being able to rotate your torso effectively, it is harder to gain momentum in your canoe; thus, you will generally be doing more work and using more strength than you have to without that advantage. Good rotations will also help you in getting the ideal angle with your paddle. Angle is also an important aspect in kayaking.
