The Fourth of July brings out many summer food and drink cravings in me. This is a time to relax and have fun. I like enjoying many different food and drink ideas and creations, during this happy holiday time. Here are some of my favorites.

1. Ice cream. You can hand churn it, make it fancy, eat it from a cone, in a milk shake, from a bowl or on a stick. I don't care. I like it all! Yum. You cannot beat eating ice cream on a hot Fourth of July day. Having or serving an ice cream cake at this time is also a great idea and delivers a sweet treat that all will be sure to enjoy! Grab your blender and whip up smoothies. Make frozen drinks. They are delicious and provide a wonderful way to cool off. There are a million things that you can do with some ice cream and fruit. Use your imagination. Don't forget the straws and plastic spoons!

2. Cakes. You cannot go wrong with a beautiful cake. The Fourth of July gives you a great excuse to go nuts with the color, decorate with flags and sprinkles and so much more. Don't forget the red, white and blue candles! It does not matter if you cannot see the actual cake, by the time you finish decorating it. Have fun! Just try not to set it on fire, when you light the candles.

3. Cupcakes. Cupcakes are a holiday tradition and a winner. People love cupcakes and they are hard to turn down. With a little creative decorating, these treats will put you in the holiday mood quickly! Chocolate cupcakes with white frosting is a favorite of mine. They are delicious. Add some fruit to the top of your cupcakes and they will be wonderful and different! Blueberries, strawberries and coconut are my favorite fruits to add. You can also top your cupcakes off with red hots, m&ms or other candy.

4. Potato Salad. No matter what food you may be serving, potato salad usually will go with it. That is what I like about potato salad. You can throw some cool ingredients in it, if you are making this dish. Pickles, cucumbers, boiled eggs, celery, green or red peppers, even some hot peppers will spice this dish right up.
