The Fourth of July is a city-wide celebration in the Buffalo area. The summer heat of July often makes Buffalo an ideal place to celebrate the Fourth of July. Family parties and picnics are held each year throughout the area, with many Independence Day reunions taking place at one of the many parks in the area. For those who are looking for something different to celebrate the Fourth of July in Buffalo, there are many interesting and fun alternatives.

Since many Buffalonians like to celebrate the Fourth of July throughout the week of the Fourth, there are many activities and events in Buffalo that are planned during the holiday week. Consider celebrating the Fourth of July in Buffalo by attending one of the holiday events.

The Friendship Festival

The annual Friendship Festival takes place each year on both sides of the American-Canadian border. On the American side, the Friendship Festival is hosted at Buffalo's Riverside Park area. Just over the Peace Bridge, in Canada, the Friendship Festival draws crowds to the Fort Erie Racetrack, for the Canadian Friendship Festival events.

The Friendship Festival is held each year around Fourth of July week, this year from July 2-6th. The annual event offers visitors free concerts, food, family activities, craft shows, parades, children's activites, cultural events, and fireworks. Fourth of July guests may want to spend the day visiting the Friendship Festival before the evening gala of fireworks.

Take a Historical Cruise

Celebrate the Fourth of July by taking a historical cruise on the Miss Buffalo Cruise Line. Miss Buffalo offers guests a historical tour of Buffalo and the rich history of Buffalo's role as part of the "Gateway to the West." The historical tour takes guests down river for an entertaining and educational cruise.

Miss Buffalo cruises are a great way to spend the Fourth of July, or an evening during Fourth of July week. The cruise line also offers other cruises throughout the warmer months. Reservations for a Miss Buffalo cruise can be made by calling (716)856-6696.

Yes, believe it or not...Buffalo is a very nice place to vacation or take a day trip. I highly recommend it and don't forget it's only 25 minutes from Niagara Falls!

4th of July in Buffalo, New York sounds heavenly. I'll bet the weather is great, not stifling like down south.

I think I'll freak out the locals and shoot off my fireworks the 4th just for fun. I have a ton left over from New Years...

First time in my life I've ever wished I lived in Buffalo. (Nothing against Buffalo. I just hate snow!)

Don't forget it's officially Goo Goo Dolls Day too. I mean if your going to celebrate something you should do it with the official band of the day right?
