Captivating Your Audience with Entertaining

There are many ways you can captivate an audience with stage persona, there are techniques that take some practice and skill, to play a guitar behind your head or back can be awkward and it does depend on your flexibility, I wouldn't recommend playing it with your teeth if you wear any form of dentures, crowns, braces or caps but if you are fairly fit you can practice what I call 'back rolling' with your guitar, I would suggest you first practice this in your bedroom or living room, better still in an empty hall, firstly stand upright with your guitar in place then slowly fall backwards landing on your butt continuing to roll backwards like a ball, as the guitar comes in closer to your body pull your stomach in, continue rolling back until you come on to your knees then rise onto your feet into an upright position, practice this a few times playing riffs and solos to the point that you develop a fast pace, this can give the audience the impression that you've lost your balance, as they gasp on the edge of their seats an applause would follow when you 'rise' back to the occassion.

I suppose there's nothing wrong with a little bit of 'wildness' here and there, I remember at times towards the end of a show I would show my 'gratitude' by kissing the body of my guitar then blowing it to the audience in a noble fashion, while the guitar was still in overdrive I would then start thrashing out some open power chords, bang the guitar repeatedly into the ground until it 'wailed' into a screaming crescendo then threw it into the audience ( using this pre - planned method I would have a friend or roadie ready to catch it) this works well with a Strat, these models tends to handle all those hard bumps and grinds, after working in a few of those hot sessions it can be real hot fun or putting it another way it's what we guys call in the business 'sweet rock 'n' roll'
