This Sunday, June 10, 2007, Rafael Nadal defeated his nemesis Roger Federer in the final game of the French Open 2007.

Rafael Nadal won his third Roland Garros title in a row, defeating Roger Federer 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, in this exciting game which Nadal only lost his serve one time.

Nadal rescued 16 of 17 break points and broke serve 4 times in 10 chances. Nadal only had the low number of 27 unforced errors, versus Federer, which had 59 unforced errors.

The intelligent Nadal kept hitting the ball to Federer's weaker side, the backhand, forcing Federer to hit around 6 backhands in one rally.

When Federer's last shot was landed long, the crowed cheered in excitement to the 21 year old Nadal, as he threw his hands up and then fell to the clay ground on his back with joy. He then got up and tried to make his way up to the stands to his coaches and his family to give them a hug. Trying to make his way down, he shook hands with everyone as the cheered him on and congratulated him.

Rafael Nadal only lost one set in the whole match, thus leaving the crowd worried for Nadal after that set. This game kept the crowd on the edge of their seats, and the big fans at home walking around in circles during commercials, wondering who would be the champion of the 2007 French Open.

The 21 year old won $1.34 million, while Federer was rewarded $670,000 for getting this far in the championship and for playing a good game. Beside the money, Nadal received a big, cup-shaped silver trophy, and Federer received a silver tray. Nadal usually bites the edge of the handle on his trophies, but this time he did not - as he also did not throw his wristbands and his headband this time like he usually does.

Helpers brought out the stage in pieces and put it together. After Nadal thanked all the viewers at home, everyone that came out to support him, his fans, and Roger for a great game, he said that hopefully he'll come back next year speaking French. The crowd once again roared as the champion made his way out of the court, signing autographs and giving his fans high-fives.
