While this is all subject to personal preference, somewhere between a metro sexual man with manicures better than my own and a guy that looks like he stumbled out of the last day of shooting from the show "Survivor" seems like the perfect level of grooming for a manly man. Not quite someone who could do Brawny paper towel commercials, but not too much of a diva. For your typical summer sports - you often get a lot of sun exposure - especially guys - and this can make you look much older than you actually are. Skin and hair are the two physical appearance features that a guy can do something to preserve as long as possible to improve their appearance. While using Rogaine on your hair might make it look greasy, skin care makes you look better now. Just ask Derek Jeter.

A recent interview with Derek Jeter revealed some of this New York Yankees' little known skin care fan's tips and tricks for skin care for the man's man. I never noticed but he really does have great skin, especially for an athlete who is outdoors so much.

Derek Jeter already has a fragrance for men that has a fragrance spray, an aftershave, and a body wash, but now is launching a skin care line in conjunction with Avon that is called Derek Jeter's "Driven". They are really pushing the line for Father's Day gifts, and offering some gifts with purchase like a men's travel grooming kit. The products include a "Driven" Foaming Face Scrub and Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15.

Here are some of Derek Jeter's manly beauty tips:

1. Always wear sunscreen. Don't forget your ears, throat, and the back of your neck. This is especially important if you play outdoor sports. Remember to reapply after swimming before engaging in your next sport. The sun really beats down on these areas when you are outside and they can make you look much older and you likely will not be able to see any skin cancer in those areas if it develops.

2. After you shave, use moisturizer. Derek our course likes his line of products, but Clinique for Men makes a good non-stinky moisturizer that does not sting shaved skin, does not smell and is not greasy.

Takeaways
  • Wear sunscreen whenever you play sports or are outside
  • Reapply after swimming
  • Wear wrap around sunglasses when driving to protect the sides of your eyes
