It's no secret in the parenting world that kids love to dip their food into things, but usually it falls along the lines of dipping fries into ketchup. Although fries and ketchup could be considered healthy in some remote galaxy, here on earth we'd all love for our kids to eat more fresh fruits and veggies. Dips can help you achieve the goal of getting your kids to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables if you know what types of healthy dips to offer to your kids. These six dips are super kid-friendly, and either have vegetables in the actual dip or are designed to be dipped into by fresh fruits and veggies! 1.Hummus
Most kids will gladly eat Hummus because of it's salty flavor, but you may be surprised to know it's chocked full of healthy ingredients! Homemade hummus is best since you can control the amount of ingredients and make sure there are preservatives, but store bought will do in a pinch. Hummus is basically made of Garbanzo Beans (Chickpeas), Olive Oil, Garlic, and Tahini (Sesame Seed Paste.) It's a delicious form of protein when topped on carrot or celery sticks, but it's also great on Pita Bread and Pretzels.
2.Natural Peanut Butter
As long as your kids aren't allergic to Peanuts, and if you stick to the natural variety, Peanut Butter can be a very healthy dip! Natural Peanut Butter contains no nasty additives like corn syrup, but still contains all of the protein benefits of peanuts. Natural Peanut Butter is a great topper for carrot sticks, celery, apples, bananas, pretzels, and of course whole wheat bread!
3.Unsweetened Apple Sauce with Cinnamon
You may have never thought of using apple sauce as a dip, but it's actually a great way to get more fruits into your kids! Make sure you buy the Unsweetened variety to avoid extra sugar, and just sprinkle some ground cinnamon in it for a great flavor. The apple sauce dip is great for whole wheat toast and pretzels.
