Yearning for some fun in the sun, but spring has only just now sprung? Have patience. It won't be long until the sun will give a nod to the northeast, especially that wholesome tourist attraction, Cape Cod. True, it may have its small obstacles like waiting to cross the Bourne or Sagamore Bridges, but good things come to those who wait or sit in traffic. The great thing about the beaches of Cape Cod remains the same year after year… those sandy, gravelly beaches are just over the bridges, not a thousand miles to the south. When compared to the distance of Florida or some other semi tropical paradise, Cape Cod is a dream come true. Just which beaches on Cape Cod are the best? That depends on what you're looking for in a beach.

The Cape, as locals affectionately call Cape Cod, looks like an arm striking out at the Atlantic Ocean from inland Massachusetts. Once a peninsula, it became more of an island after a canal was dug in 1908. Lucky for all of us, it is surrounded by Buzzard's Bay, Nantucket Sound, Cape Cod Bay, Pleasant Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean. When searching for the best beach the best one for you is the one that provides you with whatever you're seeking. Are you a swimmer? Do you long to feel the waves lap at your body as you glide through liquid silence? Are you a windsurfer, bounding over waves, your hair flying while the wind and waves take your breath away? Are you a people watcher with a penchant for sunning on a sandy beach while the kids play at the water's edge? Perhaps sailing, powerboats, or kayaking gets your endorphins exploding with excitement. If you're a shell seeker you'll want to be at the right beach to find treasures. Does seeing the shimmer of scales cause your hands to itch for a pole? Once you know what you're going to use the beach for you'll find it easier to make a decision about which beach is best suited for you.

Takeaways
  • Know your expectations of the beach before you go.
  • Research which beach will meet those expectations.
  • Have fun!
