Colorado Springs - A Colorado Springs Police Officer has been been charged with theft by deception. Officer Neil Ashenbrenner who has been on the force since January 2005 received $1400.00 for miles that he had logged but not driven. Allegations of the crime came after the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified that the officer had allegedly received worker's compensation benefits after an accident in August of 2006. The allegations focused on the round trip mileage from his residence in Florissant, Colorado to Colorado Springs, Colorado. However the officer had been living in Colorado Springs with his girlfriend the entire time.
