It’s that time again, the weather is warming up and school is almost out for the summer. This may start you, or a teenager you know, thinking about summer job plans. While there is always plenty of jobs available in malls or fast food restaurants, they are not known as being the most exciting jobs on the planet. Today we will help you to think outside of the mall and look at ideas for fun summer jobs for teenagers.

If you like animals there are always kennels and veterinarians offices that are looking for someone to help out either part time or full time. You could even check out the local zoo. Your duties may include cleaning out kennels, bathing animals or possibly assisting with paperwork around the office. If you are considering a career in animal medicine this could be the job for you!

Another fun way to earn money in the summer is by following your hobbies. Are you into BMX’s and dream about racing in the Tour de France? A job at a bike shop might just be what’s called for here. Your duties may include putting the bikes together, sales or creating window displays.

If you like the water and leave near a river or the ocean there are many jobs available. Look for lifeguard positions, rafting guides or possibly even fishing hunting or camping guides. Your duties may include leading tourists to the best places to fish and camp or teaching them about the local nature trails in your area. Note that certifications are required for many of the jobs in these areas.

Do you like to teach? There are many places where you can put your love of people and teaching to work together in many meaningful ways. Try calling some apartments or townhome complexes that cater to senior citizen. Most of these places also have programs or activity directors who may be in need of someone to help out. Duties may include teaching seniors how to use computers or helping out with some of the craft classes.
