Start preparing for your speech well in advance. You can start writing it down 2-3 weeks before the wedding day. This is to avoid last minute confusion. Include some funny stories, some moving thoughts and just about anything that you wish to convey. The speech should also have a message congratulating the bride and the groom and wishing them the best in life.

Remember not to make your speech too long. People will lose interest if it is too long. So in order to grab everyone's attention, make it short, sweet and simple. Do not stretch it beyond five minutes. Duration of five minutes is good enough to convey your thoughts and wishes. However it can even go up to seven minutes but definitely not beyond that.

There are a few other things which you must remember while preparing the speech. Don't make it complicated, do not insult anyone in the speech. Remember, wedding is a special occasion and you must stay away from hurting anyone's feelings. One your speech is complete, make a duplicate copy. This is important for back up in case you misplace the original copy.
