Emusic.com is a great site for downloading unrestricted audio files. They are a membership service that works similarly to Napster. Instead of paying for each download individually, you pay a monthly membership fee that allows you to download a certain number of songs each month. I will admit that the selection of music their library has to offer is no where comparable to iTunes, but if you're a fan of lesser known bands, or if you're just in to discovering new music, Emusic is a great site for exactly that.

The coolest thing about Emusic, is that their downloads are unrestricted. That means that you can do whatever you like with your MP3's after you download them. You can put them in your iTunes library, add them to your iPod, burn them to a CD as many times as you like, and even share them with other people. iTunes restricts their downloads, so you can only burn them to a CD a limited number of times. You also can't share files you download via iTunes with other internet users.

Emusic offers many different membership plans, so their prices vary. A three month membership worth 90 downloads costs around $29.99. If you do the math that's only about $0.30 per download. That is 70% less expensive than iTunes. If you normally spend $30 a month downloading albums from iTunes, over the course of three months you could download 90 MP3's from Emusic and then still download another 60 tracks from iTunes with the money you saved.

Emusic also has a great affiliate program that will pay you $6 for every new user you get to sign up for a free trial. The free trial is available to anyone, and expires after 14 days. Even if the user cancels their free trial, Emusic still pays you. This is an excellent program for anyone that owns a website or has a blog.
