Many toy businesses were previously located in the downtown area but because they realized that the entertainment world is growing in the Valley, they felt this would be a great place to attract people to their stores. Another reason for the move from the downtown area was the commute for the people in this business and for other residents. Also, the traffic on the freeways was horrendous. These business people and residence of Los Angeles found it much easier to get to the different locales in The Valley. Areas such as Canoga Park, Woodland Hills, Westlake Village, North Hills, Malibu, and Burbank were perfect for those who were seeking entertainment, excitement, and maybe a stop to one of the toy stores!!!!!
The people in the toy industry were more than delighted to be located in such places where MGA Entertainment, Disney and Warner Brothers, Dreamworks Animation and other popular sites attract visitors.
One person in the toy industry, who works for Sun-Mate Corp. and who markets and sells toys and solar products from its headquarters in Canoga Park, felt that this was a great place for this industry.
A toy store, Imperial, received a license to sell battery-operated bubble toys using images of Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine. This company wants to focus on products with recognizable brand names and at the same time, they want to hold onto their traditional toys.
