Grilling, enjoying the day of our independence, and socializing with a significant other and friends are all great ways to spend the fourth of July before the fireworks start lighting up the night sky. After eating a well cooked meal, desserts are the next best thing. What to cook for desserts that add a unique and pleasant surprise to guests and family? Here are a few cleaver-looking and tasting delights that will keep with the theme of celebration.

Fourth of July Pretzel Sparklers

White Chocolate

Sprinkles: Red, White, and Blue colored

Package of Pretzels (Rod Style is Preferred)

Melt chocolate over very low heat. Dip pretzels halfway into the melted chocolate. Roll pretzels over the colored sprinkles and let dry on wax paper.

Fourth of July-Bang Dessert

1 can fruit pie filling
1 box cake mixture (Small)
Half cup of melted butter

Grease an 8x8 square pan. Pour in filling and spread evenly in the pan. Sprinkle the cake mix over fruit filling. Add the melted butter on the top and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Best when served hot. You can add ¼ cup of nuts and top it off with ice cream, if desired.

Star-Spangled Mores

Marshmallow Stars (Peep style)
Graham crackers (cinnamon or regular)
Milk chocolate bars (Hershey special dark or original)

Break crackers in half. Snap chocolate bars so they match the size of graham cracker squares.
